FAQs
When do Lessons run?
We run lessons over the full school term. For example, if the school term is 10 weeks long then we schedule 10 lessons for that term. We charge for coaching on a per term basis and not per lesson. However, we do not hold lessons on public holidays and accordingly do not invoice for lessons that fall on a public holiday.
Each student is allocated a day and time for their lesson at the start of each term. Students are booked in for the term, and their spot is held for them each week. Students are expected to attend their lesson on the day and time allocated to them. Please contact Leigh Chapman if circumstances for the student change during the term so that an alternative day and time can be arranged.
What if I miss my lesson?
A missed class occurs when a student fails to attend on their scheduled day and time even though the class was conducted. Commons reasons for non-attendance include illness, injury, school commitments and family reasons.
We will offer one make-up class per term at no charge provided you notify us that the student cannot attend their class prior to the scheduled class time for that week. We will not offer a make-up class if you fail to notify us ahead of the scheduled class time.
Parents/Carers are responsible for contacting Chapman Tennis Coaching to arrange a time for the student’s make-up lesson. Please contact at the start of the week in which you would like a lesson. Where we cannot offer a make-up class during the week that you contact us then parents/carers are responsible to contact at the start of the following week to try again.
Important notes:
A Make-up class may not be on the same day or as the normal class
No credit is given for missed classes that are not made up during the term
The offer of a make-up class does not carry over to the next term.
What happens if my class is cancelled?
A cancelled class occurs when the coach for that lesson calls off the class due to wet weather, heat-out or coach unavailability. We arrange an alternative lesson for the students when this occurs. The three options for alternative lessons appear below, in order of how they will be offered:
On another day or time during the term.
As an additional class on a weekend.
As a session during our school holiday clinics or a lesson during school holidays – please note that our school holiday clinics run over 3 days and parents can select a suitable time.
We seek co-operation from parents and students in attending the alternative lessons offered for the cancelled lesson. Our coaching team is committed to making themselves available to ensure that everyone gets their allotted lessons for the term.
In exception circumstances, we may be unable to offer any of the above options. If this occurs, you will receive a credit on the following term’s invoice.
What if I’m injured or sick?
Please contact Glen Chapman if your child has a prolonged illness or injury and is unable to make their scheduled lesson for 3 or more consecutive weeks. We will reimburse the cost of those lessons or provide credit to fees for the following term.
How are fees charged?
We issue invoices to each student at their first lesson of the term and fees are payable 14 days after the issue date.
We apply a 10% discount if:
A student books 3 or more lessons each week during the term (group, private and squad).
Three or more members of the same family book in for a term of lessons.
A single student incurs fees of $700 or more for the term.
Social Media
Starting from Term 1 2022, we will be taking photos and videos around the tennis courts during lessons and competitions for use on our social media platforms. If any parents/guardians would like to opt-out of having any photos or videos taken of a student, please let us know and we will ensure that we do not.
