Competitions
There are plenty of ways to get out on court and play tennis, whether you’re looking for regular competition, tournaments, club events or simply a social hit.
There are opportunities for juniors and adults across a range of levels, so players can find the type of tennis that suits where they’re at and how they want to play.

Saturday mornings
MRTA Junior Competition
The MRTA Junior Competition is a Saturday morning club-based competition, with Gisborne Tennis Club entering teams across grades from A Grade through to D Grade.
Players compete as part of a team and play both singles and doubles against other clubs in the local area. Teams and grades are organised according to player level, helping players compete at an appropriate standard.
Players need the basic skills to serve, rally, keep score and understand the rules so they can play their matches independently.
Open Competition
For players looking for regular, structured competition, there are several local doubles competitions available across different levels.

Tennis Victoria
Pennant
Pennant is a Tennis Victoria competition offering a stronger, more formal level of competition across a wider area of Melbourne.
With a broad range of grades available, players compete as part of a team in both singles and doubles against clubs from across the competition.
Pennant is a good option for players looking for a greater competitive challenge and the opportunity to test their game against a wider range of players.

Club Championships
Gisborne Tennis Club runs Club Championships for juniors and adults each year, giving members the opportunity to compete against each other in both singles and doubles.
It’s a great opportunity for members to get on court, compete and be part of the club, with events available for different levels of play.
Players need to be a member of Gisborne Tennis Club to compete.

Tournaments
Gisborne Junior Development Tournaments
Chapman Tennis Coaching runs two Junior Development Tournaments each year, giving junior players the opportunity to gain more match play and tournament experience in a supportive environment.
Events are generally played in a round-robin format, giving players multiple matches and making them a great introduction to tournament tennis.
Find a Tournament
For players looking to compete beyond Gisborne, there are tournaments available across Victoria and around Australia for a wide range of ages and playing levels.
Playing tournaments is a great way to experience different opponents, challenge yourself and enjoy tennis outside your local competition.

Social Tennis
Social tennis is a relaxed way to get on court, play and meet other people without committing to a regular competition team.
Players can come along when they're available, making it a good option for people looking for a social hit, some exercise and an opportunity to enjoy tennis with others.
